On arrival at Zion National Park I wasn’t sure what to expect. The intentions were to hike up to angels landing, which gets its name as the view from the top it’s said to be ‘so high it feels as if the angels could land there’ Trust me the name is fitting !!
I am not the most experienced in hiking but I am always up for a challenge. I did read reviews online which were all very different. The hike up to angels landing is graded as difficult and not for beginners a 5mile round trip.

We got up early to beat any crowds and the heat !! It was August and Utah is HOT! Practical foot wear, water and snacks is a must. We started the hike which was fairly tame with beautiful views of the park. Then we got to the hard part, chains bolted to the cliff. Using the chains like a railing you have to make your way across to angels landing. It’s not particularly far but challenging and very close to the cliff edge. The worse part for me was when you cross paths with other hikers. One of you has to let go of the chain and move over in order to pass one another. At the top the view is incredible and you really feel as if you are with the angels! The trek back down begins.

Unfortunately people have lost there lives on this hike and It’s not a place for the faint hearted.

I found the hike up (and down) Angels Landing to be thrilling, terrifying and beautiful. Glad to see your photos and feel the heights again.

It can be Indeed but it’s all about being practical and sensible, then it’s safe but still enjoyable.
